American Floral Edowment Scholarships (Various Horticulture Related Scholarships - Undergraduate & Graduate)

  • Each year applications are due on May 1.
  • Students with a 2.5 GPA or above are welcomed to apply. AFE has more ethan 20 scholarships awarded annually.

    American Society of Horticultural Science

  • Deadline: February 4
  • Two annual scholarships in the amount of $1500 will be given to each of two undergraduate students majoring in horticulture at a four-year institution of higher education who meet the criteria. See website for list of criteria. Student Travel Grants (Deadlines depend on the scholarship or grant.)

    American Society of Landscape Architects - Oklahoma Chapter

  • Amount: Two $1000 awards; Deadline: Feb 1; GPA: 3.0 in all subjects; Completion of 12 credit hours in landscape design/landscape architecture; Essay: Project Presentation
  • Financial Aid: Not considered; Other Criteria: Completion of 12 credit hours in landscape design/landscape architecture. Must be utilized in a landscape design/architectural degree program in Oklahoma.

    Annie's Sustainable Agriculture Scholarship

  • Scholarship funds of $100,000 are awarded to students studying sustainable agriculture.
  • Applications are accepted January 15 - March 15. Recipients will be notified in late May.

    Davey Foundation Scholarship Grant

  • Purpose is to provide financial assistance to students enrolled in fields related to the "Green Industry" such as arboriculture, horticulture, landscape, turf science.  Applications will be available in November 19, 2018.

    Garden Club of America Scholarships

  • Various scholarships with application deadlines from November 1 - February 5
  • Garden Writers Association
  • Submission Deadline: December 5, 2018.

    GIE Media's Horticultural Scholarship Program (Must be postmarked by April 16, 2019)

  • Must be enrolled at a recognized two or four-year college or university working toward a degree in horticulture, turfgrass management or field related to the green industry.
  • Two $2,500 scholarships available

    GCSAA Scholarship Program (Turf - A couple of scholarships for freshman through Graduate. Applications have various deadlines October 1 - June 1.)

    Goldwater Scholarship (OSU Deadline: October 29, National deadline is late mid January 2019)

  • Sophomore and Juniors should have at least a 3.70 GPA and be a United States Citizen and plans to attend graduate school.
  • Created by Congress to honor Senator Barry M. Goldwater and to encourage excellence in the areas of science, engineering, mathematics and computer science. This $7,500 scholarship is particularly for those students who have a very strong record of undergraduate research in one of the fields above as demonstrated by ongoing/completed projects, reports, presentations, publications, etc.  For additional information, please visit

    Horticultural Research Institute Endowment Funds (HRI) - 2018 - 2019 appication open in April 2018 and close mid September 2018

  • Students must review each scholarship application to determine if they meet eligibility requirements. Scholarships available: Timothy Bigelow and Palmer Bigelow, Jr.; Carville M. Akehurst memorial; Muggets; Spring meadow Nursery; and The Usrey Family
  • A student may apply for as many scholarships that he/she meets eligibility requirements. Students applying for more than one scholarship must submit a separate application for each scholarship including separate letters of recommendation, cover letter, and resume. Only one copy of a student's official transcript is needed.

    Irrigation Foundation

  • Must be currently enrolled at a US technical, community college, university or similar institution of higher learning; US Citizen: enrolled in a class with irrigation related curriculum; Minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA; and demonstrate financial need. Scholarships range from $1,000 - $2,500. Deadline is February 15, 2019. Notification in April 2019.

    Lawn and Landscape (Deadline April 16, 2019)

  • For the fall term, two $5,000 scholarships. To be eligible for an academic scholarship you must be enrolled at a recognized two- or four-year college or university working toward a degree in horticulture, environmental science or other field related to a segment of the green industry. Applications must be postmarked by April 16.

    Morris K. Udall (OSU Application due October 29, 2018 with Natl deadline March 9, 2019.)

  • Any college sophomore or junior studying fields related to the environment OR to Native American and Alaska Native undergraduate students who intend to pursue careers in health care and tribal public policy. Majors have included environmental engineering, agriculture, biology and other natural sciences, natural resource management, and more. OSU info:

    National Association of Landscape Professionals Foundation

  • Since it’s inception in 1998, the National Association of Landscape Professionals Foundation has generously rewarded students whose schools have been actively involved in the National Association of Landscape Professionals.  If you are enrolled in landscape contracting and/or horticultural programs at two-year or four-year colleges and universities you are encouraged to apply. Deadline: November 2, 2018

    Niblack Research Scholarship Program (Deadline: February 2019 )

  • For freshman or sophomore majors whose interests include biochemistry and molecular biology.
  • This is a new program, designed to sponsor research projects by sophomores and juniors. Twelve scholars will be chosen. Scholarships are $2000 in the fall, $2000 in the spring, and $4000 in the summer.
  • OK-AHEAD (Deadline: on or before March 1 of the award year)
  • OK-AHEAD Applications available in November 2018.  Scholarships are available to Oklahoma Students with disabilities in post-secondary education. Scholarships can be applied to any Oklahoma technology center or any two-year or four-year college or university. Three $500 scholarships are awarded annually.

    Oklahoma Garden Club (Deadline: February 1)

  • Available for Jr. Sr. or Graduate Students studying fields relating to horticulture, landscape design, environmental conservation, floriculture, city planning, environmental concern and more.

  • If your application is determined to be the top Oklahoma recipient, your application will be forwarded to the National Garden Clubs for the opportunity of a $3500 scholarship.

    Oklahoma Golf Course Superintendents Association (Deadline August 15, 2018 for the 2018-2019 year)

  • The Oklahoma Golf Course Superintendents Association also partners with OSU Oklahoma City and OSU Stillwater to provide candidates with scholarship opportunities.  These scholarships are dedicated to students pursuing turf grass management degrees and is awarded based on the criteria set by OSU.  The Association donates funds towards these scholarships on a yearly basis.

    Oklahoma Nursery and Landscape Association

  • 2-$500 scholarships to full-time OSU, Stillwater students in the department. June 30 deadline.
  • Complete Horticulture & Landscape Architecture Departmental Scholarship Application for consideration.
  • Jim Sanders Horticulture Scholarship is also available September 15 and due October 26 each year. Contact Becky Sellers for information.

    Perennial Plant Association Scholarship (Click on Education, then click on Scholarship)

  • Deadline: February 1, 2019  /  Applications available November 2018
  • Student should be majoring or minoring in horticulture or a related field with a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
  • Student should have at least one quarter or semester remaining following spring term.
  • Recipients must attend the Perennial Plant Symposium.
  • An interest in a career in perennials is preferred but not required.

    Robert Felix Memorial Scholarship

  • This non-repeating scholarship is available to undergraduate (Jr. or Sr.) and technical college (2nd year) students pursuing a career in Commercial Arboriculture.
  • Scholarship amounts are $3,000 awarded 1/2 each semester of the school year.
  • Requirements: Students must be Tree Care Industry Association student member or Student Society of Arboriculture member, Advisor referral and 3.0 GPA.
  • Applications accepted January 15 - March 15, 2019.

    Sidney B. Meadows Scholarship (Application available; Deadline May 24, 2019)

  • For Juniors or Seniors in a four-year curriculum or Graduate Students in a masters or doctoral program.
  • Student must be a resident of the 16 states (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia) included in the Southern Nursery Association.
  • Minimum grade point average of 2.25, based on a scale of 4.0, is required for undergraduate students or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for graduate students.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants who plan to work in any aspect of the industry (including owning their own business) following graduation and those in financial need.
  • Previous scholarship recipients may reapply; however, each are limited to a maximum of 2 scholarship awards.

    Joseph Shinoda Memorial Scholarship (Applications available January & Deadline March 30)

  • Undergraduate with floriculture specialization. 19-20 School year must have a Sophomore, Junior. or Senior. standing - Annual applications accepted from January through March 30
  • Scholarships ranging from $1000 to $5000 or more will be awarded for the 2019-2020 academic year.

    SAFE (SportsTurf Managers Association-Deadline October 15)

  • Four (4) $500 SAFE Scholarships for a two-year student, four (4) $1000 SAFE scholarships for four-year students and two (2) $1500 SAFE Scholarships for graduate students.
  • Applications are judged on academic preparation, cumulative grade point average, experience in sports turf management, and references provided by student advisors and previous or current employers.

    Sarah Bradley Tyson Memorial Fellowship (scroll down page for info) Due: April 15, 2019

  • ($1000 award - Fellowships for advanced study at an educational institution of recognized standing in the U.S. Criteria: Awards have been made in recognition of leadership in cooperative extension work and initiative in scientific research.     OSU Study Abroad Office is offering 60 scholarships from $500 to $1000 for students who wish to study in another country.

  • Scholarships, both short-term and long-term will be awarded on a first-come first-served basis and are now being accepted for winter intersession, spring semester, and spring break.
  • Applications for Summer and fall, and academic year. Applications will be accepted beginning in January.

    TOCA-Turf and Ornamental Communicators Association (Application at the bottom) Deadline: Mar 1, 2019

  • One $2500 fall semester scholarships for the 2019-2020 academic year to undergraduate college students pursuing a career in green industry communications. Students must major or minor in technical communications or a green industry related field such as horticulture, plant sciences, botany, agronomy, plant pathology, etc. The applicant also must demonstrate an interest in using this course of study in the field of communications.
  • Overall GPA of 2.5 or above and a 3.0 in the major area of study (based on a 4.0 scale).

    Truman Scholarship

  • Applicants need 3.5 or better GPA; be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national or expect citizenship.
  • Pursuing career in public service, as defined by the Truman Scholarship Foundation.
  • Students must demonstrate strong leadership skills and express themselves effectively in writing and by speaking on topics of personal and public interest.

    Western Nursery & Landscape Association

  • WESTERN selects students from Oklahoma, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska for a scholarship on year rotating schedule. Deadline is October 1.
  • Applications can be submitted by printing the attached PDF and sending it to WESTERN (email: or mailing to PO Box 8860, Saint Joseph, MO 64508 or by faxing to 816-233-4774. Make sure your school's Registrar's Office send your transcript as well.
  • Each year the WESTERN awards six scholarships to students in the horticulture field. The recipients receive an all-expense-paid trip to the ANLA Management Clinic in Louisville, Kentucky. Students attending colleges in the five-state area and working on a horticulture degree are eligible. Scholarships are given to one student from each of the five states, with the sixth given to an outstanding student in any state.

    Western Reserve Herb Society (Deadline February 28, 2019)

  • Open to U.S. citizens who have completed the 2nd/Sophmore year of undergraduate study.
  • Must have a GPA of 3.2 or above and attending an accredited college or university
  • A scholarship award of $7500 will be awarded to student who demonstrates financial need and plans a career in horticulture and allied fields.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate exceptional dedication to horticulture and whose career goals may involve work in areas such as teaching/research, the public or nonprofit sector, or sustainable agriculture.
