Japan/Thailand Study Abroad Program:
| The Japan/Thailand Landscape Design Study Abroad Program is a 25 days summer study abroad program. This course will introduce you to a series of urban landscape and historic garden design around Japan’s cultural city, Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka and Thailand’s ancient city Chiangmai and capital city Bangkok. This is a life changing experience for all participants. Program contents including: Historic gardens and urban landscape site visits; Architectural and Landscape Architectural Design offices visits; University exchanges: Kyoto University of Art and Design, Tokyo Institute of Tourism, and Maejo University; Host family experiences in Kyoto and Chiangmai; Japanese garden construction workshop; Thai garden planting design workshop; and Cultural exchange activities. 2011 Brochure | |
Peru Study Abroad Program and Exchange:
| The Peru Landscape Design Study Abroad Program is a 21 days summer program. Participants spend time in and around the Peruvian cities of Lima, Trujullo, Hauanchaco, Cusco, and Machu Picchu. While in Lima, we are hosted by the architecture program of Universidad Peruana De Ciencias (UPC). This course explores built works, urban spaces, natural resources, history, and the culture of Peru. Peru provides the grounds for studying Inca, Spanish colonial, and Peruvian cultures. Native American ruins in the country will provide a rich landscape for studying pre-Columbian site design, colonial and vernacular Peruvian design and urbanism. As part of this cultural and academic exchange, we host Architecture students from Peru each February on our Stillwater campus. 2011 Brochure | |
