November 17 & 18: 64th Oklahoma Turfgrass Conference and Trade Show, Wes Watkins Conference Center, Stillwater. Tuesday, Nov 17th events include the trade show as well as concurrent Lawncare, Golf Course Management, Sports Field and Sod Production sessions. The designated pesticide applicator education day will be on the second day (Nov 18th) of the conference. The trade show will also be open on Wednesday, Nov 18th. Pesticide Applicator Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in category 3a (Outdoor Ornamentals and Turf) will be requested from the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. An announcement on the awarding of CEUs for both the Tuesday and Wednesday sessions will be made in early November. The pre-registration flyer for the Turf Conference will be sent out in October by email and will be available at that time at the Oklahoma Turfgrass Research Foundation (OTRF) website at: www.otrf.net. November 19 : Unwanted Pesticide Disposal at Hooker Equity at Hooker, OK. The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry are funding a program to help collect and properly dispose of unwanted pesticides for farmers, commercial applicators, or dealers. November 20: Seeking Individuals for a Consumer Preference Poinsettia Survey - Come and be a part of a Consumer Preference Poinsettia Survey on Friday, November 20. A variety of poinsettias will be in the survey and it only takes a few minutes.  The survey is from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. in 169 AG Hall.  Participants will have the opportunity to sign up for door prize drawings!  The drawings will occur at 3 p.m. and participants need not be present to win.

November 25: FREE day at the OKC Zoo. Admission is FREE on this day!

November 26 - New Year's Eve, Honor Heights Park, Muskogee, OK. View over 1,000,000 shimmering lights as well as the animated displays. Open Thanksgiving through New Year's Eve. Donations are accepted. Opens at dusk.

November 27 - December 31: Downtown in December, Oklahoma City, OK. Celebrate the season with the Gardens during Oklahoma City's brightest holiday happening. Passport to Christmas, the Crystal Bridge's special holiday exhibit, will delight guests young and old with decorations from around the globe. The Crystal Bridge is open FREE to the public from 6-9 p.m. on the following Sunday evenings: Sunday, December 6, 13, 20 & 27. For more information about downtown events, visit www.downtownokc.com .

December 1 - January 1: Garden of Lights, Honor Heights Park, Muskogee, OK. Get the Christmas spirit, a million lights, hayrides and trolley rides. For more information contact the Muskogee parks and Recreation Department, 918-684-6302.

December 1: Deck the OKC Zoo. During the month of December, bring an edible ornament to the zoo and receive admission for $1.

December 2: OBGA Members - Poinsettia Pre-sale! Bring your membership card and select your poinsettia holiday decoration before the rush. Open from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. For more information on joining, please call 744-5404.

December 3 & 4: Poinsettia Sale at the OSU Teaching Greenhouses. Open from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., stop by and enjoy the vast variety of poinsettias available. For more information call, 405-744-5414.

December 4: Seasonal Wreath Making at the Will Rogers Gardens, OKC. Participants will construct their own wreaths, swags or other seasonal decorative items. Horticulture materials, wire and wreath forms will be provided. Participants will need to provide their own hand tools, hot glue guns, scissors, etc. Enrollment is limited to 25 participants. December 6: Angel of Hope Candlight Ceremony, Lendonwood Gardens, Grove, OK. A remembrance ceremony, with candles and floers, is held each year on Children's Day, December 6, at the Angel of Hope statue garden. The public is invited to participate in this event in conjunction with other similar ceremonies nationwide. For more information call 918-786-2938.

December 9: Cucurbit Meeting: This year’s Oklahoma Cucurbit Production and Marketing Educational Meeting, slated Dec. 9, will be of particular interest to both new and experienced market gardeners and farmers market growers. The meeting will provide information tailored to the needs of Agricultural Extension Educators, market garden growers, commercial farmers, and agricultural supply businesses.  This year’s program is being developed to provide growers with ideas on which crops to grow, how to grow them, and new ideas on how to market. Industry specialists will share expertise in a wide variety of areas related to cucurbit production. The meeting will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Fairgrounds Community Building at the Grady County Fairgrounds in Chickasha. January 8-9, 2010: Horticulture Industries Show, Tulsa Community College Northeast Campus, 3727 E. Apache, Tulsa, OK. "Local Growers - Local Cooperation" is the theme for the 30th Arkansas and Oklahoma Conference. This two-day grower meeting and trade show consistently provides growers the latest inforamtion on six commodity areas, vegetables, fruit, herbs, Christmas trees, farmers market crops and public gardening issues. Diana & Gary Endicott from southeast Kansas are the featured keynote speakers.
