September 17, 2008: Turf and Landscape Field Day at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater. This educational opportunity in learning more about turfgrass techniques and research starts at 8 a.m. and ends with a catered lunch by Klein's at 1 p.m.. The program has been submitted for 2 CEU credits in Category 3a and 10 and is pending a decision from the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. September 20: Local Harvest Bountiful Earth - American Horticultural Society 2008 Annual Gala, River Farm, Alexandria, Virginia. The Gala will be a celebration of the bounty of the earth and American gardens. Join us for an enjoyable evening to savor the seasonal flavors of the local harvest. September 21-22: Autumnal Equinox Walks, Spiro, OK. A series of tours by Archaeologist Dennis Peterson, who will talk about this prehistoric Native American Mound Center, why they lived here, built the mounds, and why some of the mounds line up for solstice and equinox sunsets. October 25: Creepy Conservatory at Crystal Bridge, OKC, OK. Are ghouls ghastly? Do snakes make you quake? Test your nerve at our annual Creepy Conservatory. It’s a Halloween extravaganza complete with hands-on encounters with all things that creep, slither and scuttle. Monster-free activities also available for the faint of heart. November 5: Greenhouse IPM Conference, Stillwater, OK. Co-hosted by Entomology and Plant Pathology and the Horticulture and Landscape Architecture Departments, this workshop will have morning lectures followed by a practical hands-on laboratory regarding the use of pesticides and biological control organisms for the commercial greenhouse operation.
